Get Out Explore. A peer to peer adventure service helping people meet new friends and discover fun activities.

Product Management, Sales

When I first arrived in California I didn’t know anyone, didn’t have a car, and didn’t have my surfboard.

Thankfully I found and befriended a group of surfers who took me on frequent surf excursions. Realizing my luck, I wanted to create a better way for others to find and join these adventurous communities.

After sketching out a business model and pitch, I convinced a friend to help build a peer to peer adventure service. A few months later, we had built GOE (Get Out Explore), an app that helped people meet new friends and discover fun activities.

GOE let people host or join events, giving users access to otherwise exclusive events. It helped people save money by splitting costs between a larger group, and was a way to meet others with similar interests.

Host or search for upcoming events. Access otherwise exclusive events and discover new adventures. Split costs and meet new people with similar interests.

A few dozen people joined the service and began hosting all sorts of unique trips from hikes, to ski weekends, to surf trips.

This was my first real exposure to software development and the project taught me a lot about product development and design.

We pitched to VCs and angel investors and came in 2nd place for “Best Pitch” in a pitch competition of 12 startups despite being the youngest and least experienced.

While we didn’t create true product-market fit, we both learned a ton and Kadhir and I became partners for many future side projects where we’ve continued to push and develop each other.
