A bet to get on the phone with a top CFO that turned into something much more.
Sales, Writing
My friend bet me $100 I couldn’t get on the phone with the CFO of a company valued at more than $50 million.
After a successful first cold email campaign for my blog where 8/8 prospects opened my email, 5 responded, and I spoke with 4, I felt confident. Always pushing me to the next level, my friend created what he dubbed as the “CFO Challenge”.
Sourcing prospects, building a scalable process, writing crisp cold emails, and interviewing C suite executives- this month long challenge taught me a tremendous amount about sales.
I applied and practiced sales theories I had learned in “Predictable Revenue”. I also advanced my writing skills when I published my first-ever Medium article, “How to reach out to anyone and get them to respond”, which has over 500 views and a 43% read rate.
Most importantly, however, were my conversations with top CFOs. Learning about their careers and gaining insights about the financial side of running successful companies was both inspiring and eye-opening. I’m truly grateful for all their time and advice.
